Hungarian average wage last year less than half the EU average

According to the latest statistics from Eurostat, wages in the EU rose by an average 5.2 percent last year: while the average annual salary in 2023 was €37,800, in 2024 it climbed to €39,800.


Among member states, Hungary ranks in the bottom three, with an average salary of €18,500, meaning that last year, Hungarian salaries were less than half the EU average. Only Greece (€18,000) and Bulgaria (€15,400) are behind us on the list.

People earn the most in Luxembourg (€83,000), followed by Denmark (€71,600) and Ireland (€61,100).
