Orbán was the Russians’ Trojan horse in the EU, according to liberal and People’s Party MEPs, who firmly believe that the Tisza Party’s victory will lead to the restoration of the rule of law. Within the Patriots for Europe party family, which includes Fidesz, Orbán’s image as a defender of sovereignty is positive, but even within the political platform that rejects a deeper European integration, there are those who were relieved by Fidesz’s defeat.
