Ukraine summons Hungarian ambassador

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has summoned Antal Heizer, Hungary's ambassador to Kyiv, according to a statement from the ministry, as reported by Pravda. As per the statement, the Deputy Foreign Minister told the ambassador that it was clear that the political forces ruling Hungary were seeking to drag Ukraine into their domestic political battles.

“Since Ukraine has never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries, especially not in Hungarian internal affairs, the Hungarian government's actions are particularly worrisome for Kyiv,”

the statement said.

They are not pleased that the Hungarian government is portraying Ukraine as an enemy in its communications, while Ukraine is fighting a very real war against Russia. “These clumsy methods (...) are simply pathetic and offensive, even to Hungarians,” the ministry wrote.

A few days ago, the ministry responded to a billboard campaign suggesting supposed similarities between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Hungarian opposition politician Péter Magyar. At the time, they wrote that it looked stupid, boring, and unconvincing.
